Specialised Equipment, Processes and Personnel
Plumbing and wet fire systems are dynamic services that must account for design requirements, operational usage-imposed performance requirements and environmental variations or impacts in the disposal or distribution of gas or liquid or waste.
Due to the quantity of installation and operational variables, this may include pressures, flows, varying temperatures, plant equipment, valving, energy efficiency, noise reduction, treatment, therefore the diagnosis on the efficiency or effectiveness of a hydraulic system to operate in an ongoing manner is consequentially diverse.
The diversity in hydraulic systems is further encumbered due to the nature of plumbing systems being concealed within the ground, within walls or within ceilings, with only key plant equipment or end use fixtures or fittings generally being readily accessible for evaluation. As a consequence, the diagnostics conducted on hydraulic services requires specialised equipment, processes and personnel to effectively collect and collate data, enabling productive and definitive forensic engineering practices to be deployed.
To ensure continuity in the diagnostic and forensic engineering process, all equipment is predominately owned, maintained and operated by Watermark Services Group. The diagnostic and forensic processes adopted are project specific, being tailored to the experienced issues, ensuring stakeholder expectations are satisfied whilst maximising productivity throughout the resolution process.
CCTV (Closed circuit television) Assessment
Utilises inspection cameras of various sizes and lengths to review the interior of pipelines or observe pipelines in concealed locations.
This process enables determination of concealed piping material integrity faults (fractures/breaks), the adequacy of pipe grades or falls to self-cleanse, the type of materials utilised, and the system location or configuration.
Smoke Testing
Utilising a vapour dispersion unit, gravity piping systems can be assessed to determine the location of sewer pipe material integrity faults, resulting in internal sewer odour release or where cross connections between incompatible hydraulic services occurs.
Moisture Damage Detection
Storm related moisture damage inspections determine the extent of water damage and the sources or modes of failure that have resulted in a breach in the property’s exterior waterproofing.
Storm related water damage assessments are conducted using specialized equipment comprising of infrared cameras and moisture meters.
Flood Simulation Testing
Gutters, roof sheets, flashings, wall flashings, wall treatments, tank liners, balcony surfaces, roof areas, drain inlets or other surfaces or services subject to the effects of rainfall are subjected to rainfall simulation testing to verify system integrity to either contain fluid without leakage or resist the transfer of fluid without permeation.
Hydrostatic Testing
Coldwater pipes, rainwater pipes, hotwater pipes, gas pipes, fire service pipes or other pressure services can be subjected to hydrostatic testing to determine the integrity of the services to contain fluid or gas without leakage, whilst gravity services can be subjected to hydrostatic testing to determine the integrity of the services to contain fluid without leakage.
Pressure and Flow Monitoring
Pressure services are subject to operational performance testing to quantify system capabilities and performance limitations.
The sustained operation of these hydraulic pressure systems, with pressure and flow monitoring, can diagnose system variations or fluctuations to establish ongoing adequacy in system performance.
